When you register a domain, you have to provide a genuine street address, email and telephone number in accordance with the policies adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). This information, though, is not kept only by the registrar, but is accessible to the general public on WHOIS check websites as well, so anybody can see your information and a lot of people may not be okay with this. As a result, plenty of domain registrars have launched the so-called ID Protection service, which hides the registrant’s contact info and upon a WHOIS check, people will see the details of the registrar, not those of the domain owner. This service is also called Privacy Protection or WHOIS Protection, but all these names refer to the same service. As of now, most of the top-level domain names around the globe allow ID Protection to be added, but there are still country-code extensions that don’t support this service.

ID Protection in Cloud Hosting

You can swiftly enable ID Protection for any domain that you’ve registered with our company in case you have a cloud hosting account with us. This can be achieved through the same Hepsia Control Panel, via which you manage the hosting account, so you won’t need to sign in and out of different admin interfaces. In the very same section where all your registered domain names will be displayed, there will be an “ID Protect” icon for every domain whose extension supports this option. The status of that icon will quickly let you know if the ID Protection service is enabled for a given domain or not and by clicking on that icon you can activate the service if you haven’t done so during the signup process. Additionally, you will also be able to renew or to disable the ID Protection service for any domain using the exact same icon and the update will take effect straight away.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can activate our ID Protection service effortlessly. This takes only several clicks in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, through which you administer everything associated with your semi-dedicated account. This is the place where you can see all your registered domain names and for each of them you will find an “ID Protect” sign, using which you can order, renew or deactivate the service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-specific extensions that are ID Protection-eligible and you will be able to see this beforehand, so that you will not end up requesting a service that we can’t provide.
